GENETICS IN RETINAL DISEASE
A basic clinical course
SEPTEMBER 17 & 18 - 2010 ROTTERDAM
THE NETHERLANDS

Dear Friends, dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to a basic clinical course on Genetics in Retinal disease to be held on September 17 and 18 2010 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The field of retinal genetics is changing rapidly: the number of retinal genes that has been identified is over 150, and molecular therapy is underway. For us as clinicians, it is a constant challenge to keep ourselves well informed and to translate the scientific developments to clinical care in such a way that our patients will benefit from them.

This basic course aims to provide an update for ophthalmologists, residents, clinical geneticists, and other professionals with an interest in hereditary retinal disorders. We have invited an international ensemble of speakers who are experts in uniting basic science with patient care. The format of the meeting with review lectures on Mendelian as well as complex retinal disorders will allow for a quick knowledge boost. Ample time for discussion will enhance a vivid exchange of ideas.

Rotterdam is the crossing border of several rivers, and is one of the biggest and busiest ports in the world. The city has undergone an amazing expansion in height and width during the last decades, and has become a thriving city of business, architecture, and culture.

Looking forward to welcome you in Rotterdam,

Carel Hoyng and Caroline Klaver
